**PLEASE GO TO OUR HOME PAGE TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION! I can email one also if requested. Home page: www.wpr.petfinder.com Sweet Charity ... Domestic shorthair, Brown Tabby / Bengal mix; 'Senior Kiti-zen' at 9-10 years old BTW... Who really came up with the notion that a cat is a 'senior' when they reach 7 years old? It just isn't so anymore with high quality vet care and healthier food options available! Cats are living well into their late teens, if not their early twenties, on a regular basis! So 9-10 year old cats have a lot of livin' yet to do, that's for sure!! Our Sweet Charity is one such 'senior kiti-zen' who might beg to differ by being called a 'senior'... as she sure doesn't look her age at all! She was recently rescued by WPR when found abandoned in a NE Iowa home, along with some other kitty companions. But never fear,Sweet Charity girl - you'll be a WPR foster kitty until the PURR-FECT family comes along to adopt you into their FURR-EVER home! Sweet Charity is a beautifully marked brown tabby, possible Bengal mix, with striking colorations in her soft fur. This girl is somewhat scared right now - and who wouldn't be after being totally left to die by her former 'owner'... and just wants to hunker down and try to be as small as possible. But she is super sweet and we have no doubt she will be a great companion for that special someone who choses to adopt her, once she gets to know them! She gets along great with the other kitties, but we have no idea about dogs or children. Won't you come and meet this beautiful girl and see if her charm, peaceful presence and striking fur coat ignite a spark of love between the two of you? You could spend the next 10-12 years together, mutually giving each other lots of lovin' and snugglin' time!! Sweet Charity is fully vetted, been brought up to date on vaccinations, and tested negative for FeLK/FIV. 2/25/13 Skylar and Charity UPDATE: The new "kids" are doing well. Very different from my other fosters. They are very affectionate and loving, but the girl stills curls up tightly into a ball. I'm spending at least an hour a day with each of them holding them and trying to draw them out. The eventually do come out of their shell a bit ... they long to be pet. They just have no interest (yet) in wandering into the bedroom. My walk-in closet makes them feel safe I suppose. I have two hidden spots for them and them have now ventured into separate sleeping quarters. At first they remained glued together. Skylar is the more outgoing of the two. Although he doesn't like to be held for long. His coat is such a shiny, rich black color and his bright green eyes really pop against it! He's quite lean (no rib bones, but his spine is quite pronounced). He's healthy, I surmise he's just a thinner kitty. His purr is soft, but it's constant when I pet him. I love how he'll lower and extend his head toward my hand when he doesn't want me to stop petting him. Charity will lay on me for hours if I wanted. Yes, in a tight ball, but she too will purr and nuzzle my hand if I rest between petting sessions. It's been ages since I've had a cat that doesn't mind being held ... in fact, it seems she prefers it. This will be a definite plus for those lap cat adopters out there! She has beautiful round eyes that I hope soon will lose that frightened expression. They've been exposed to all three of my kids and no surprise ... they all get a long. Of course these two aren't territorial which may be why the integration has gone so smoothly. Anyway - just wanted you to know. If I didn't already have three, I'd keep these two. In only three short days they've worked their way into my heart. Genius of them, don't you think? 3/13/13 UPDATE: Charity no longer curls up tight into a ball. I find her stretched out in one of the cubbies I created. She will curl up tight when I pull her out of her safety zone, but yesterday we took a nap and she stayed curled up to me for quite a while. I was even able to convince her to nap out in the open on a pillow on a chair. She hung there for most of the day driftin
