Approx. age is young adult - we had to have one of her teeth pulled because it was cracked, but that could have been from a poor diet while out fending for herself. Veterinarians give a guess-timate age by the condition of their teeth, so they think she is possibly 3-4 years old as of May xxxx. Cha Cha was a stray kitty residing in a neighborhood in a college town in NE Iowa. Nobody knew who she belonged to - if anyone - but she wasn't feral, so perhaps once-upon-a-time in her life, she actually may have had someone who cared about her and showed her love and affection. Somehow she'd survived the harsh winter of xxxx-xxxx, so then of course in the spring of xxxx, she was pregnant. A kind lady had noticed her hanging around their duplex complex and had put food out for her. Towards the end of April, she suddenly noticed this kitty had a huge hole of some kind in her neck! She knew she was about to give birth a she was getting larger every day, and she desperately called us asking if we could help get this kitty to a veterinarian as she was so worried about the injury she had and what would happen to her kittens if she had something life threatening. As luck would have it, on April 29th, the day we were able to try to rescue her, she'd just given birth to her kittens in a garage just down from the duplex building - and we were able to get the kittens into a carrier and this new mama was easily caught when she went into the carrier to try to get her babies OUT. She wasn't real happy, but we rushed her to the vet where they were able to clean out her wound, which thankfully didn't look like a bite wound! She and her kittens were now safe and sound and they were on their way to a new life in their foster home! She was a bit leary of people in the first few weeks, but as time went by, she began to trust more and more, and boy, she was a fabulous mama! She had 3 kittens of her own, and even became a surrogate mama to an abandoned newborn when it was just 2-days old, too! She was very loving and nurturing, and even after her babies should have long been past nursing, and after she was spayed, she would let them get a 'snack' whenever they wanted... and any other kitten who wanted a little mama-time was welcome, as well! She is still very loving to any newcomer in the foster home - adults alike! She has a rather short, coarse coat, and her little ears are quite small and rounded - at first we thought they had been frostbitten by the freezing weather we had, but upon a closer look, they are just teensy. She has a very small, round and robust body, and she loves to be petted and will rub your legs, too. So far she isn't too fond of being picked up, so don't know if she'll ever be a lap kitty, but you never know - she just might decide she kinda likes snuggling with a real purrson! Cha Cha's adoption fee is $75.00. She is totally vetted... spayed, URD on all vaccinations, has been treated for parasites, and tested negative for FeLK/FIV. Of the four kittens she raised, three of them are still available for adoption... her own two - Jitterbug and Jive - and her adopted little girl, Pasa Doble. Won't you give this sweet former mama - and maybe even one of her babies - a loving furrever home?
