Dilute Tortoiseshell Medium Hair female... approx. 8 years old (as of 5/xxxx) This beautiful girl is a Dilute Tortoiseshell, which is not a breed, but the color of her gorgeous fur coat! Her coloration of shades of gray, peach and apricot are diluted colors of the traditional Tortoiseshell colors of Black and orange-ish hues. Lucy is a super sweet girl who gets along with all of the other kitties in her current foster care home, and she has lived with one other kitty that we know of. Her story is one that is happening more and more as pets have become more of a 'throw away' possession in this world of irresponsible pet owners. This sweetheart and another kitty from the same household (who will be up for adoption soon, but is having a harder time adjusting), were taken to a small town vet office in NE Iowa and left there with instructions from their owner to just euthanize them because they were moving! Two perfectly healthy cats, 8 and 4 years old, just thrown away like they'd probably taken other 'unwanted trash' from the house... with absolute no regard for the lives of these two precious kitties! Thankfully the veterinarian office employees couldn't do that to these cats, and called WPR and asked for our help. We stepped up to help save their lives and took them into our rescue. Lucy is an 8-yr. old kitty, but she has so much more life ahead of her and love to share, and we are confident she will make a loving, sweet companion for whoever finds it in their hart to give a slightly older kitty another chance to have a loving, furrever home for the rest of her life. Cats are living well into their twenties now, with the more quality cat foods available and advances in veterinary medicine. It is not unusual for cats to live 22+ years these days, so by those standards, Lucy is just a teenager!! And a laid back one at that!! Lucy is spayed, current on all vaccinations and FeLK/FIV negative. She is MORE than ready to move on in life with a family who will love her and give her the furrever home she truly deserves! 7/28/13 UPDATE: Lucy is the SWEETEST girl who just wants to be L.O.V.E.D. She is a very gentle little soul, and will politely put her paws on your knees to let you know she wants to be picked up. When she is sitting on your lap she will turn to you and if you put your face down slightly towards her, she will gently give your face a touch with her paw! Then if you move your nose down close to hers, she will rub noses and give you an ESKIMO KISS! She really is a sweetheart and she deserves to be loved and cherished the rest of her life! Won't you at least come and meet this adorable girl just to see if she could be the one for your family? She gets along wonderfully with other kitties if you are looking for a companion for your kitty! Update 2/10/14... Lucy just went in for a teeth cleaning and had 2 teeth extracted because the roots were showing under the plaque! Poor girl! She'd looked kinda down in the dumps lately but all tests had been fine, so hopefully getting her teeth all fixed up will perk her back up to her usual sweet self!
