**PLEASE GO TO OUR HOME PAGE TO FILL OUT THE ONLINE APPLICATION! I can email one also if requested. Home page: www.wpr.petfinder.com Otto was a stray that ended up at a shelter in NE Iowa. Shelter asked if we could take him in as they felt he would do better in a foster home than in the shelter because he was very stressed being there. So Waverly Pet Rescue now has him and he is living in a foster home. We are working with this shelter by them taking in dogs for us every now and then and we are taking in dogs that need foster homes for them. It is a win-win situation. :) He is fully vetted, up to date on shots, tested heartworm negative, and neutered. Otto is about 2 years old. He is good with all people, including children. He does well with other dogs. He is full of energy and would love an active home that wants to take him on walks or to the dog park. He also likes to run so if you are a jogger, here's a great dog to take with you. Otto loves to play! He loves to be busy and have something to do. He would be great to play fetch or frisbee with. And he enjoys chasing tennis balls too. He would be perfect in a home with children that need a friend to play with. He would be best in a home with a fenced in yard so he can run around and play all he wants. He needs a home with no cats as he tends to want to chase and chase them. He is alredy cratetrained and foster home is working on finishing up his housetraining. Otto is a good boy and would love a home that can give him a lot of attention. 12/14/11 UPDATE: Otto is doing pretty well here. He weights about 25 pounds, so he is medium in size. He is so funny because he has a stuffed animal snowman that he always carries around in his mouth, kind of like a security blanket. The lady at the vet clinic said that he would always walk around with his blanket in his mouth. It's really quite cute. We are still working with him on being potty-trained. He will do his business outside, but sometimes has accidents in the house when not properly monitored. He seems to be catching on to things quickly though. He has gotten used to the kennel pretty quickly and doesn't fight us or whine when we put him inside. He really likes to chew on his raw hides and play with his toys. He will toss up his stuffed animal to himself and just keep himself entertained by chasing it around the living room, so cute and makes me smile to see. He also likes to give kisses. When we first got him, he was enthralled by the cars driving by. They still really grab his attention, but he is learning not to tug on the leash or bark at them. 1/9/12 UPDATE: We have taught him to "sit" and he likes being near us and play. He loves toys, but does chews right through them, so raw hides would be great for him to keep him busy. 3/14/12 UPDATE: A fenced in yard is required for Otto as he likes to chase cars. He is a great busy little guy looking for the right home to be his forever home. He loves to go on walks but gets distracted when he sees a car so be sure to hold on tight. Otto knows sit, do, watch me , release word. training with the clicker goes well, he is really smart. Also knows sit for greeting. We just started down and take it and leave it. He is learning drop it great. 6/6/12 UPDATE: Otto was adopted in March and returned recently because she wanted a running partner and Otto gets distracted when he sees cars. Anyway, we tested him again for heartworms and sad that he tested positive this time. a lesson learned to all that a dog can get heartworms in Iowa in only a few months if an adopter does not give the heartguard pill to prevent them. So he has now had treatment for it with our vet. He needs to be tested again in 3 months (test is about $30) to verify the treatment killed all the heartworms. He must be kept on preventative like all dogs should be so this doesn't happen again. He is doing well here back here at his foster home. He seems to remember everyone and is getting along well. He has not had an accident in the house in a long time so seems to be be housetrained. Trying to keep him from running too m
